Changing the shift knob on my 3000gt?

I was wondering hoe much of a hassle it is to change the shift knob does it just require to unscrew the knob and screw the new one in....? http://www.cardomain.com/item/GRE14520561 as an example... is it an easy replace? Not really mechanically inclined so yeah... thanks..|||You should just need a wrench to loosen the nut under the shift knob to get the old one loose, then you can twist it off. That%26#039;s how my car works anyway. You can then screw the new one on and tighten it with the wrench.

It also might just thread off, or at worst, you might have to remove the boot and the whole shift arm. It%26#039;s only a few bolts involved though, it really isn%26#039;t too bad even if you have to do that. I wouldn%26#039;t expect that this would be necessary, but depending on how hard it is to work with, it might make it easier to be able to work with everything out of the vehicle.|||Most either have a nut/bolt to unscrew or the whole thing just unscrews itself. Just look at it for awhile and see how it comes off. It shouldn%26#039;t really involve too much work, I don%26#039;t think you would have to dig into the car or anything.|||On a manual it%26#039;s a piece of cake on the older automatics it%26#039;s a real pain because of a switch in the knob that has two long wires that are hooked into a connector with several other wires so you have to pull the wires out of the connector with a special tool designed for dis assembling the connector. I don%26#039;t know if they still use this type of knob. The newest 3000 I have worked on is from the late 90s|||well it shood be easy it think you just unscrew it or it might have a screw on the bottom edge of the knob|||It just unscrews off and on. Lefty loosey, righty tighty. You should put some blue loctite on the threads to keep it from getting loose and spinning on the shift lever when you shift.|||yyghftghbftrghr
