How do i get the sleeve of my handbrake?
I own a pug 306 and want to change the plastic sleeve on the handbrake handle in the car. Is there an easy way to get it off without cutting it??? also wld like to know how to remove the gear shift knob. Thanks...
How do i get the sleeve of my handbrake?
nope, both the shroud and gear knob are glued on ..they well need cut off....
How do i get the sleeve of my handbrake?
Take off the facia / shround around the base of the handbrake - will give you a better idea of how to get it off - normally secired with a screw / clip at the bottom. Gear knob normally twists off.
Gear knob might twist off...Handbrake handle is most likely attached with adhesive.
Paul both the handbrake and the gear knob are glued into place, so unfortunately you will need to cut them of.
Ja.

How much would it cost to change a automatic 69 mustang fastback into manual?
What would be the total price for everything? Please List all the parts that will be needed? putting in a clutch pedal. Putting in the shift knob. everything LIST EVERY THING ABOUT SWITCHING IT PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
How much would it cost to change a automatic 69 mustang fastback into manual?
Everything that Ken K said is correct. also, to add a bit more, you may need a different yoke, depending on what auto box you have now. also, flywheel bolts need to be longer than auto ones. and you will need a manual spacer for the clapper starter motor. If you can't fit it yourself, you may be looking at close to another grand to pay someone to do all the fiddly stuff.
Nice car btw. i have a 69 Mach 1 myself.
How much would it cost to change a automatic 69 mustang fastback into manual?
I don't know if you are trying to build a hot rod...I suggest you start visiting salvage yards in your area, Est. less than 1000 bucks...Starting at the back of the engine you will need...
Pilot bearing
Flywheel
Clutch plate - Pressure plate - Throw out bearing %26amp; Fork
Clutch pedal with Push rod %26amp; Linkage
Bell housing
Transmission
Shifter and Linkage
Drive shaft may need to be a little longer to accomodate manual tranny
everything i agree with but..... buy a new clutch pressure plate and thrust bearings, as there is no guarantee that the one you pull out is going to be better. cos you may have to replace it later on.
contact Mustangs Plus for details.
You would need:
A clutch.
A clutch pedal + hardware.
Clutch pedal hangars - if not already present under dash (my '65 Coupe is an auto but the hangars are already there).
Shifter Boot+hardware/accessories, knob (depending on what comes with transmission).
A manual transmission (this will be most of your cost).
Depending on what transmission you get, you may want/need to change driveshaft, rear end gears (or entire rear end), and possibly modify/upgrade mounts and suspension.
A basic job with a used transmission in decent shape could probably be done for about $800-$1000 in parts by someone who was fairly mechanically inclined.
To have it it done (and done properly) could range from $2000 on up.

Question about your paddle shifting Smart Car?
When you press the paddle shifters on your Smart Car on its steering wheel, does it change it to Manual mode?
Even If I leave it in automatic mode. if I accidentaly bump those shifters it changes it to Manual mode immediatly.
to change it back to Automatic I have to pull the shift knob over to Manual Mode and then push it back to Automatic mode...
is this something with a particular year of the Smart Car?
is this normal for all smart cars?
should I call the mechanic?
Question about your paddle shifting Smart Car?
In original unupgraded 08' models one would have to move the shift knob over to manual and back to auto.
If you had your car flashed to 2.0 your transmission has had its shifting pattern upgraded to allow faster, more economical shifting. The 2.0 upgrade also allows you to go into manual mode just by slapping the shifter or paddles. If you bought a used smart or an 08' this year then the USB 2.0 tranny upgrade has already been done
09's had this function pre-installed and it is completely normal for the smart to do this. Also if you had not noticed, in manual mode you can get to 60 in less than 12.8 seconds.
check out my sources!
Question about your paddle shifting Smart Car?
This is a feature of the recent software update version 2.0
The original software acted differently, the paddles were inactive until the shifter was placed into manual mode. The version 2.0 is supposed to change the shift points to a more economical pattern and allow immediate mode change to manual by simply pressing a paddle.

How much does a typical clutch inspection cost?
I have a Ford Ranger 1996 and have yet to change the clutch. Now it's really tough to shift gears. Some fluid does drip from the gear shift knob on ocassion but not much.
How much does a typical clutch inspection cost?
Why gear oil would drip from the shifter knob I have no idea.
But most reputable garages will take a look your clutch and trans for free. They want to do the work.
How much does a typical clutch inspection cost?
There should be no charge for the inspection. Just get a estimate to repair the poor shifting.

Where can i buy parts to customize my lexus?
Okay, so i own a 1991 Lexus LS400 Automatic. I want to make it look better so i want to change a few things around. Things like, the Gear Shift Knob, the emblems, pedals, and anything else that can be modified for a reasonable price. I tried the lexus dealer website but its useless. Know of any places where i can buy what i need, online or in person?
Where can i buy parts to customize my lexus?
Ebay is one of the best places to look. I got a ton of stuff for my '95 altima from there. Body kit, performance exhaust, head and tail lights, dash coloring kit, etc. I saved a ton of money.

Can the boot cover on a manual transmission be changed?
I have a 1997 Geo Prizm with manual 5-speed transmission. The shift stick boot cover is one of those accordion style covers and I think it looks dumb (don't ask me why). I'd like to change the boot cover to a leather %26quot;cloth%26quot; cover but I'm not sure where to even start, let alone where to buy one. Any suggestions? I'd also like to put a new shift knob on it.
Can the boot cover on a manual transmission be changed?
Sorry nobody makes one for a Geo at all. The best you can do is buy one for a similar car and adapt it to fit. Here are some Leather Shifter Boot sites:

http://www.redlinegoods.com/shiftboot.ht鈥?/a>
Can the boot cover on a manual transmission be changed?
Found it.Once the console comes off the boot is self explanatory.
sure you can change it if you find the type of boot you want.

I want to do some customizing on my PT cruiser...any ideas?
I just bought a 2003 PT Cruiser. There are a few things I want to get done to it but I am having a hard time figureing out things that would make it 'my own.' I know for a fact I want to change the shift knob on my stick shift but I have heard some bad things about doing it. Any ideas as to how to go about it so I can make it the same color as my car?
I want to do some customizing on my PT cruiser...any ideas?
You can also check out some Cruiser ideas at:
autotrucktoys.com/ptcruiser and/or cruisermotorsports.com. If you're really set on customizing the interior of your Cruiser, there are a number of products you can use. There are dash covers, inserts, chrome trim, panel replacements, floor mats, knobs (shifter and dash, in sets and individually), windshield screens, and a whole host of other items available.
As for the exterior? Again there are a lot of things you can do: grilles, wheels and tires, paint and/or decal treatments, spoilers, custom head- and tail-lights, even fender skirts and a faux continental wheel kit.
If you're looking for performance increases, again, there are a lot of options: handling suspension modifications, engine upgrade items (including chrome accessories), induction enhancements, even NOX (nitrous oxide).
If you need ideas, just Google %26quot;PT Cruiser customizing%26quot; and you'll fine %26quot;eleventeen hundred%26quot; sites!
Good luck, and enjoy your Cruiser.
I want to do some customizing on my PT cruiser...any ideas?
The best thing you can do with a PT Cruiser, is to take it back to the dealership and trade it on something else, you know a car that people don't laugh at. That's almost as bad as puttling spinners on a 84 Caprice Classic.
Give your Chrysler service department a call, and see if it can be removed. If it can't you don't have anything to worry about.
You should also purchase the Haynes repair manual for the 2001 to 2003 Cruiser. It will help you understand more about your vehicle and what it will take to make some changes.
go to californiacruisers.com, they have alot of custom parts such as shift knobs and other thingsfrom eyebrow waxing ittwit

Remove shift knob from 1997 Toyota Camry? Please Answer!?
the car is automatic transmission and it a button has to be pushed to change gears. It also has that tricky overdrive button which is what I think is holding me up. There are wires on it and i believe thats whats stopping me but idk how to remove them. I unscrewed the screws in my handle myself but it wont come off cuz of the wires. And now im mad because i cant get it back to the way it was, anyway i want to put a new handle on or fix the old one so does anyone have specifics on how to deal with the overdrive button and wires. Is overdrive even necessary, im not drag racing so i know i wont need it lol. If possible please let me know if i can just cut those wires to get the shifter back to normal cause i think i messed it up. Any toyota owners, please help. Im 17 and im getting this car in a week for my birthday, i want to have that knob working, thanks

Automatic shift knob?
i want to change my stock auto shifter to a carbon fiber shifter, what i need to know is, how can i replace it? and will it matter if the new knob does not have an overdrive button like my stock one?(it does have the bigger button however)
Automatic shift knob?
You'll have to wire in an overdrive button somehow. Otherwise you'll not be able to use overdrive, your car's computer may even store a code thinking something is wrong with the tranny.

How do I change my shifter knob?
I own a 2002 Toyota Altezza and would like to purchase the chrome ball-shaped shifter knob that comes on the Lexus is300. How do I remove the old shift knob, inorder to get the new ball-shaped installed? I am not even sure if they can be interchanged...
How do I change my shifter knob?
Look at the shift knob. The lower part should be a ring that you can twist off. (It's probably too tight to unscrew by hand, but if you wrap a thick rubberband around it, it's much easier.) Once you get that ring off, you should see some screws holding the shift knob on. Just unscrew those and you can take off the knob and replace it.

Do anyone know how to change the knob on the gear shift on a 2006 chevy cobalt?
Place the shifter into neutral. Use a flat-bladed tool like a small flathead screwdriver and carefully push the lower chrome trim piece down on shifter lever. You will find a small inverted hex set screw at the rear of the knob base. I can't remember the size of allen wrench needed, but it is metric. With the correct size allen wrench, loosen the screw to the left, and the shift knob should pull free. Hope this helps you. Remember, service managers and advisors only fix minds. How do i chang the shift boot and knob on a 1999 Honda Civic Si. please be very specific.?
i just ordered and recieved a new shift boot and knob for my 99 civic si and want to change it but not to sure how. so please help me and me as exact and specific as possible. thanks.
How do i chang the shift boot and knob on a 1999 Honda Civic Si. please be very specific.?
dont waste any money on a manual... boots and knobs are simple, just take out the center console unless the piece with the boot on it is seperate, then swap the boot and put it all back together!! It's simple, just tinker with stuff if you cant do it at first, you'll figure it out.
How do i chang the shift boot and knob on a 1999 Honda Civic Si. please be very specific.?
The best bet is to run down to your local auto parts store and buy a Haynes manual for your car. They'll be far more detailed than we could be (showing pictures, exploded views of the parts) and giving very specific directions.
Good luck!
can you say CHILTON's manual. very specific instructions at local auto parts stores (depends what you have in your area, PAPI BOYS, AutoZone, Kragen, etc ..)shampoo good for hair make up help for sensitive skin
